Note: The following is an abbreviated summary of public comments received at the titled public information meeting for the North Country Transportation Study. The comments do not necessarily reflect the views of the Development Authority of the North Country, New York State Department of Transportation, or Wilbur Smith Associates.

• A 1986 economic development study as conducted of Franklin and St. Lawrence airports.  While the study concluded that a regional approach made sense, “Nobody wanted to give up their airport.” 

• Recent proposals have been made to increase bus service (Trailways) from Plattsburgh to Malone – currently it does not exist. 

• The local road system is weakness because it lack the reliability and safety of a four lane, access controlled highway; 

• The system lacks a backbone arterial from which the local systems can evolve.
