North Country Transportation Study

WATERTOWN, NEW YORK

PUBLIC MEETING – October 25, 2000

North Country Transportation Study

Note: The following is an abbreviated summary of public comments received at the titled public information meeting for the North Country Transportation Study. The comments do not necessarily reflect the views of the Development Authority of the North Country, New York State Department of Transportation, or Wilbur Smith Associates.

  • If the Interstate is “so great,” why hasn’t Watertown done better?  Economic development depends on a lot of variables such as fiber optics.  In fact whose to say that the North country would not have done much worse without the two Interstates that make the Canadian connection.

  • Will it be possible to build a consensus around which the five counties and municipalities can agree.

  • Will the study address negative impacts of proposed improvements?

  • What does the Province of Ontario and the Federal government think of this study?
