Housing Development Programs:
Low Income Tax Credit

In 1988, New York State designated the Development Authority as a Housing Credit Agency for the federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program. This program provides equity funds for projects that create or rehabilitate low-income housing by providing investors with tax credits against federal tax liabilities.

As a housing credit agency, the Development Authority is able to allocate tax credits to identified projects in the region. To date over 600 units have been assisted by low-income housing tax credits issued by the Authority.
