Cell Construction: Since early Spring 2007 a contractor has been on the site building cell 9. This photo is looking from east to west down the length of this 9.58 acre cell.
Cell Construction: Another cell 9 photo, this shows two of the layers that comprise the 5 foot thick liner system. The black panels are one of the drainage layers and one of the soil layers, which is compacted grey clay.
Scalehouse: The Landfill has two scales, one for inbound traffic and the other for outbound traffic.
Cell Construction: Waste is hauled to the site and deposited at the "working face". The waste is then fed to the compactor using the dozer on the left side of the picture.
Working Face: This aerial photograph is quite a different perspective of the working face.
Cover Operations: Every evening the waste is covered with an approved cover material. This picture shows the soil being dumped on the waste to cover the outside slope. It will be spread to a minimum of 1 foot thick.
Bat Study: This summer the Solid Waste Management Facility commissioned a study to determine if the Indiana Bat was present in the buffer area surrounding the landfill. The study was completed finding no evidence of the endangered bat being present at the site. This Northern Long-eared Bat was captured and released during the study.
Surface Water Sampling: The surface waters and ground waters on the landfill property are sampled 3 times each year. These sampling rounds are one of many checks to ensure that the Landfill does not adversely affect the environment.
Open House: The Solid Waste Management Facility hosted an Open House in September 2007. Shown is the maintenance garage which housed several displays.
Aerial View: Shown is an aerial view of the Landfill and surrounding property taken in October 2007.
