Eric Virkler was appointed a member of the Authority Board by the Lewis County Board of Legislators.
 
Mr. Virkler currently serves as Lewis County Treasurer. Prior to that, he held positions in both economic development and finance, including service as Executive Director of the Lewis County Industrial Development Agency and Director of Planning and Economic Development for Lewis County. Mr. Virkler has also served as the Chief Financial Officer for Lewis County General Hospital and as Administrator and Treasurer for the Village of Lowville. Early in his career he held accounting positions in manufacturing and with Coopers and Lybrand. 

In addition to his years to public service, Mr. Virkler currently serves on the boards of Naturally Lewis, the Lewis County Development Corporation and North Country Alliance.  Furthermore, Mr. Virkler serves as a Lowville First Presbyterian church Session Member.  Previously, Mr. Virkler served on the boards of both the Lowville Cream Cheese Festival and the Lewis County chamber of Commerce.    

Mr. Virkler holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Syracuse University.  Mr. Virkler was appointed to the Authority’s Board of Directors on August 5, 2025 and will serve in this capacity until August 5, 2029.
