Open House at Regional Landfill August 24

New facilities, earth-moving equipment and live birds of prey will all be on display at the Development Authority of the North Country’s annual open house at the regional Materials Management Facility in Rodman on August 24 from 4-7 p.m.

The Development Authority will be showing off new truck scales, new leachate holding tanks, and a new landfill entrance. The public will also be able to see the regional landfill’s revamped administration building and new sand storage facilities. All of these are part of an $8.5 million improvement project to update original facilities that has been underway over the last two years. These improvements help ensure safe, efficient landfill operations well into the future.

There will also be guided bus tours of the facility, vendor exhibits including the New York State Zoo at Thompson Park, and hands-on activities. The Rodman Fire Department Auxiliary will be offering food and beverages for purchase at the family-friendly event.
