JOANNA BRISLAN NAMED NEW PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR FOR NEXT MOVE NY

The Development Authority of the North Country has announced that Joanna Brislan has been named the new Program Administrator for the Next Move NY initiative.

Joanna has a seventeen-year history of supporting Fort Drum and military families. Most recently, she served as the Director of Military Enrollment and Workforce Solutions at SUNY Jefferson. Prior to that, Joanna served as the Installation Program Manager for Onward to Opportunity, a Soldier for Life Contractor Installation Manager/Career Counselor, and in a number of roles at Fort Drum that provided critically needed childcare services for military families.

Joanna's experience in these roles, combined with her background in implementing workforce development programs, gives her a unique understanding of the challenges military families face and the support they need as they look toward the next chapter of their lives. This experience makes her highly qualified to lead the Next Move NY program's mission of helping soldiers, veterans, and their families find meaningful employment in Northern New York after transitioning from active-duty service.

The Development Authority of the North Country was awarded $3.9 million by Empire State Development in 2024 to establish the Next Move NY program. This initiative serves as a workforce pipeline for soldiers transitioning out of the military, veterans, and their spouses, ensuring they have access to the tools and resources needed to find employment in the North Country and remain in New York State after their military careers come to an end.
