DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY, GREENSHEEN PAINT ANNOUNCE FREE PAINT RECYCLING DAY

The Development Authority of the North Country announced Monday they have again partnered with GreenSheen Paint and Jefferson County to give residents of Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties the opportunity to dispose of unwanted paint at no cost.

This free event offers residents of the tri-county region and commercial businesses a convenient, eco-friendly way to dispose of leftover architectural paint, stains, sealers, and varnishes. Collected paint (and paint cans) will be safely recycled into high-quality, eco-friendly paint products through GreenSheen Paint’s closed-loop recycling process.

The details of the event are as follows:

WHEN: Saturday, September 19^th  from 9am-1pm

WHERE: Jefferson County Highway Department (21897 County Route 190, Watertown, NY)

"Proper paint recycling protects our regional watershed and diverts valuable materials away from local landfills," said John Phelps, Recycling Coordinator for the Development Authority of the North Country.  "We encourage residents and contractors across the North Country to check their garages and basements and take advantage of this free service."

Accepted materials include interior and exterior latex, acrylic, and oil-based paints, primers, sealers, clear finishes, and stains in containers up to 5 gallons with original manufacturer labels. Spray cans, paint thinners, solvents, adhesives, and unmarked containers will not be accepted.
